I am often asked, "Why Kuldiga, and why Maruse's Atelier?" Quite simply, without them, it could not have been... I grew up in this wonderful pearl of Courland, where my childhood unfolded amidst ancient buildings and charming streets steeped in a special historical charm. Every courtyard, every step, bore the mark of life and grandeur. Each corner whispered dreams and ignited creativity within me. Kuldiga is not just a city; it's my roots, my essence of belonging...

Two sisters, Elizabeth and Maria (affectionately known as Maruse), were my grandmothers, my closest confidantes. I was raised in the presence of these two talented fashion artisans. May my parents forgive me, but it was the companionship of Grandma and Aunt Maruse that truly captivated me.

Refined ladies, custodians of bygone tales, Kaucminde – it all felt so intimately familiar. Both sisters embodied the epitome of Latvian elegance, with their refined tastes and manners. I witnessed firsthand the creation of elaborate garments, both for festive occasions and everyday wear, tailored with precision for the esteemed ladies of Kuldiga and its environs. Flipping through the pages of Ulsensory fashion magazines, I marveled at the bespoke creations, each one crafted to perfection, tailored to suit its wearer in a way that was both unique and irreplaceable.

Even as a young child, I was consulted for advice: "Do you think it's too long, or too short? Perhaps it should be here, or there?" ...I felt immensely valued...

Today, as I inaugurate a shop in the heart of Kuldiga, I feel as though I am reviving a cherished family tradition, infusing the city with a renewed sense of taste and femininity, empowered by a fresh wave of feminine energy.

My heartfelt gratitude extends to all the benevolent forces that made this project possible!

Respectfully yours,
